Selection procedure

Basis of selection

Candidates will be selected on the basis of the total marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or Biology (whichever is higher) at the H.S (10+2) examination in the General Stream, or an equivalent examination approved by the Pharmacy Council of India.

Candidates must separately pass both the theory and the practical examination in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Mathematics, as applicable.

Total considered for the merit rank = Physics + Chemistry + the higher of Mathematics or Biology.

Tie-break

Where two candidates obtain the same total, the tie is broken in this order:

1. Higher marks in Chemistry.
2. If still tied, higher marks in Physics.
3. If still tied, higher marks in Mathematics or Biology, whichever is higher.
4. If still tied, higher age carries the higher merit position.

Ranks printed on the rank card

The D.Pharm Merit Rank is the only rank used for counselling and admission. The category rank, the PH rank and the TFW rank are provided only to sequence deserving candidates within their own group.

Publication of the merit list

The provisional list of candidates for counselling and admission will be displayed on the official website of the State Medical Faculty of West Bengal in due course.

Candidates on the provisional list must report physically and produce all original certificates and documents in the appropriate format at document verification. A candidate who fails to produce any original certificate or document will have his or her candidature cancelled on the spot. After verification the candidate must pay the admission fees. Candidature is cancelled automatically if the candidate fails to report on the scheduled date and time.

Admission is made from among the candidates present at the time of counselling, in order of merit and reservation quota, until all seats are filled.

Documents required at verification

1. Downloaded copy of the filled-in application form along with the provisional rank card.
2. Original and two self attested copies of age proof - birth certificate or Madhyamik admit card.
3. Original and two self attested copies of the 10+2 or equivalent marksheet.
4. Original and two self attested copies of the H.S or equivalent certificate.
5. Original domicile certificate from the appropriate authority.
6. Original eye check-up certificate from a registered eye specialist.
7. Original medical fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner.
8. Original and a self attested copy of the SC, ST, OBC or PH certificate, in the appropriate cases.
9. EWS certificate in the prescribed format, with the self declaration.
10. Annual family income certificate in the appropriate format, for the TFW scheme.
11. Self undertaking by the candidate in the prescribed format.
12. Three stamp size coloured recent photographs.

The dates, time and venue of counselling will be notified later on the official website of the State Medical Faculty of West Bengal.
